Art Therapy
While typically used with children, art therapy is based on the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life-enhancing. No artistic skill is necessary to benefit form art therapy. Rather, because verbalizing thoughts and feeling can be difficult, especially during stressful life events, an art therapist can guide the client through the creative process in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. The artwork can also be a stepping stone to verbal communication about feelings or events.

Expressive Arts
Cornerstone of Hope Columbus offers expressive arts to assist the grieving in counseling. Expressive arts are used to offer alternative ways to communicate and express different emotions that may be difficult to discuss when dealing with grief and loss. At Cornerstone, expressive arts are often used with children and teens in the support groups, individual counseling, family counseling and other supportive settings. To learn more about the different ways Cornerstone incorporates expressive arts into programs, please call the office at 614-824-4285.
