May 24 Segment Highlights Program's Development in Response to Need of Support Services for MetroHealth Clients Grieving Early Pregnancy Loss
Cleveland, Ohio (May 24, 2023) - Cornerstone of Hope's new offsite Pregnancy Loss support group developed in partnership with MetroHealth, was featured on News 5 Cleveland series, "Delivering Better Results" hosted by news anchor Courtney Gousman. The May 24 segment, "New Program Hopes to Help Families Coping with the Emotional Toll of Early Pregnancy Loss" shares how the program started from inside due to a need expressed by MetroHealth employee, Dorsena Koontz, who recently experienced an early pregnancy loss.
"What I wanted was the hospital that diagnosed me also to give me a resource, and I didn't get that. I love MetroHealth, but I felt like we were lacking in that instance," states Koontz in the article.
MetroHealth asked Cornerstone of Hope to partner with them, and worked with Katie Zucca, program coordinator, who shared the importance of the free program for women grieving an early pregnancy loss.
"When you leave the hospital often after an early pregnancy loss, you have nothing in hand and nowhere to go. And this gives somewhere to go, a safe and compassionate space to be with other people who are experiencing the same thing," Katie explains.
The Early Pregnancy Loss Program is set to roll out its monthly meetings starting June 7 at 6 p.m at MetroHealth's Rammelkamp building.
